CloseMalcolm has been the sustainability manager at Composites UK since January 2021, having previously worked for the association on a range of projects on a consultancy basis. He has been involved in the Composites market for over 20 years, holding a series of executive roles at resin supplier Scott Bader with responsibility for business unit performance, global strategy and ultimately sustainability, leading the development of a 20-year sustainability vision and action plan for Scott Bader in 2017. Since 2019, Malcolm has been providing consultancy services in strategy and sustainability to a wide variety of industries and is an associate of the Sustainable Growth Associates pan-European network. With a degree in chemical engineering, and more than 35 years’ experience in the chemicals and composites sectors, he brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to the Composites UK Sustainability focus and activities
Alan is the Lightweight Structures Supervisor at Ford Motor Company. He leads projects with light-weighting technologies and applications in design with mass production capability. This includes material choices from advanced steel to full composite and hybrid structures to produce the best value automotive applications. Alan has a First Class Honours Degree and an MSc from the University of Bradford in the UK, is a Fellow and Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Engineering Technology and a Fellow of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange, as well as a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, is on the Board of The Welding Institute Research Committee and a Director of the Board for the Composites UK Trade Association
Samantha develops collaborative innovation programmes harnessing investment in new technologies and sustainable materials for Cecence. She promotes the use of low energy production methods, recycled materials, natural fibres and bio-based resins. Samantha co-founded composite lightweighting manufacturing and development company Cecence in 2014 having spent much of her career prior in the creative and media sectors and brings a STEAM approach to her work. Samantha is a Fellow of the RSA, one of the winners of the KTN Women in innovation Award 2020/21 and FAC Woman in Aerospace 2018.
Martin studied Civil Engineering in Nottingham and has 40 years’ experience working for contracting, client and supplier organisations in a variety of roles on a wide-ranging portfolio of construction schemes. His passion is infrastructure and he’s been fortunate over the last 20 years to be involved in numerous design and construction projects working in collaboration with client organisations, design, and supply chain partners to deliver a wide range of structures reconstructions, replacements and refurbishments using innovative solutions to overcome engineering challenges whilst placing safe by design, buildability, affordability, sustainability, and whole life cost high on the agenda
